Paintings of Jovita Aukštikalnytė are deep and expressive, reminding the style of her teacher Arūnas Vaitkūnas from the Kaunas Faculty of Arts. Her paintings in gestured style and pastose texture with expressive colours help the author to reveal thick emotions. Artworks of Jovita Aukštikalnytė are emotional and dynamic, abstract but inspired by reality.
Being one of the most brilliant artists from Kaunas, Jovita Aukštikalnytė reflects in her canvases a contemplative relation with nature and her surrounding environment, which is formed by letting people and things to enter her world. According to the artist, “It is nice and pleasant to watch all those simple things from the familiar environment. It is so easy, without any pressure. Just from life. It’s as if I am telling about things that surround me – a nail in the wall, a boiling kettle, a bunch of keys left by someone – and at the same time divulging something of myself”.
