Vilnius city gallery Meno niša, for the first time, is participating in the art fair Art Antwerp organised by Art Brussels.

For the 4th edition of the fair, Art Antwerp’s Invitation Committee selected and invited 70 participating galleries from 11 different countries, representing a mix of mid-career and emerging artists.

In Art Antwerp Vilnius city gallery Meno niša is  presenting artists:

  • Paulius Šliaupa
  • Deividas Vytautas Aukščiūnas
  • Jurgis Tarabilda

These three upcoming multi-disciplinary artists, working mainly with video, painting, installation and performance. Paulius Šliaupa, Deividas Vytautas Aukščiūnas  and Jurgis Tarabilda are from the same generation and exhibited internationally.

In Paulius Šliaupa minimalistic works encounters natural and urban landscapes, perception and process of abstraction. With an aura of elusiveness and spirituality artist questions technological specificity and experiences of intimacy and activation of bodily senses to subjective memory.

Deividas Vytautas Aukščiūnas practice spanning performance, moving-image, sculpture and sound explores themes of freedom, transgression, youth culture and spirituality. Through a process of layering, recontextualizing and sampling elements of mass media, religion and pop culture, he engages with the contemporary condition constructing intimate, immersive and cathartic experiences.

In latest Jurgis Tarabilda works, he delves into the relationship between virtuality and materiality, the interdependence of abstraction and meaning, the boundaries between reality and the digital sphere, which reconstructs the way we view and understand images.
