On Tuesday, 19 March, 6 p.m., MENO NIŠA Gallery invites to the opening of new exhibition Collection Sculpture Paintings authored by sculptor Gediminas Piekuras.
Sculptor Gediminas Piekuras comes from a family of famous painters Igoris Piekuras and Marija Teresė Rožanskaitė. Graduate of M.K. Čiurlionis Art School, Gediminas Piekuras opted for studying sculpture at Vilnius Academy of Art. He has been an active participant of various exhibitions since 1988, a member of the Lithuanian Artists Union since 1992.
A sculptor, painter, author of fire and ice sculptures, in this exhibition Gediminas Piekuras presents his wooden sculptures that embody the ideas of fragility and temporality, the power of nature which is an important motif in author’s works. The sculptor uses conceptual combinations of ideas and shapes to open a deeper artistic and philosophical underlying meaning.
In this solo exhibition Gediminas Piekuras presents not only sculptures, but also his painting works. According to the author, in search of peace of mind he finds it through painting.
