MONIKA PLENTAUSKAITĖ (b. 1993) is a young Lithuanian painter, a graduate of Vilnius Academy of Art. Her paintings hang in the collections of foreign collectors as well as the MO modern art museum in Lithuania. Her images construct a park of props, borne out of her own pursuits of selfhood. The artist is interested in questions of identity, something she explores through old photographs. Her painterly collages try to extend the stories behind the photographs, or to reconstruct them into new narratives. Thus gets built the park of props and memories captured in everyday photographs.
